How do you use video to inform young people? Reid Aiton explains how they do it at Young Scot. They use a 'video first' approach to youth info. Reid will delve into their use of TikTok and Instagram Reels.

Young Scot is the national youth information and citizenship charity for young people in Scotland. Their mission is to support young people to thrive and make the most of their lives as they grow up.

Reid Aiton is the director at Young Scot. He leads the digital information, social media and stakeholder communications teams. He is responsible for how the organisation communicates with both young people and stakeholders.

This session will look at questions such as:

  • What does 'video-first' entail? And why did Young Scot opt for this approach?
  • Is video suitable for youth info? If so, how do you approach it?
  • What does and doesn’t work on which social media platform?

  • on how to bring youth info via video formats
  • on how to use the social media space to reach young people
  • on using TikTok and Instagram Reels, in terms of informing youth
